- A friend has a USR 28800 external Sportster VFC modem. We have heard that
- you need a new eprom chip to make it compatible with other modems. I have
- tried the USR support line (I'm not staying on hold for 30 min on long
- distance) I left message on Canadian voice message (again long distance)
- detailing my need for a new chip, with name, address etc AND email
- address.
-
- I got a call 1 day later on my machine by some tech who left a message to
- call back and garbled the extension number.(Sure I'll call back long
- distance to leave you another message, NOT!!) Why didn't he just tell me
- he could send the chip or not.
-
- Anyway, does anyone have any idea what I should do? Do I really need the
- chip? My friend is holding back on getting an Internet connection till he
- can get this matter resolved.
-
- Thanks for listening to my venting.
-
- Is their any modem company that has a good technical support dept.
