  13. A friend has a USR 28800 external Sportster VFC modem. We have heard that 
  14. you need a new eprom chip to make it compatible with other modems. I have 
  15. tried the USR support line (I'm not staying on hold for 30 min on long 
  16. distance) I left message on Canadian voice message (again long distance) 
  17. detailing my need for a new chip, with name, address etc AND email 
  18. address.

  20. I got a call 1 day later on my machine by some tech who left a message to 
  21. call back and garbled the extension number.(Sure I'll call back long 
  22. distance to leave you another message, NOT!!) Why didn't he just tell me 
  23. he could send the chip or not.

  25. Anyway, does anyone have any idea what I should do? Do I really need the 
  26. chip? My friend is holding back on getting an Internet connection till he 
  27. can get this matter resolved.
